The Enharmonic Phenomenon in the Clavier Sonatas of Ludwig van Beethoven

Summary/Abstract: This article is a part of an extensive work devoted to the phenomenon of enharmony, that aims to achieve a complex overview on the subject. For that end, the “enharmonic” problem is being surveyed from both the traditional, narrowly-specialized angle within the theory of modulation, and also from the theory of musical temperament, assuming their basic connection from the very beginning. This study’s subject attempts to determine to what extent and in what forms this music-theory “manifest” has its presence in Ludwig van Beethoven’s piano sonatas.
