Summary/Abstract: The unfavourable and further deteriorating demographic status in Bulgaria necessitates the working out and implementation of appropriate measures for preserving the human potential of Bulgaria. Annually 1200-1500 people commit suicide in this country. The research points to the increase of suicidal actions. This is especially the case mainly with young and healthy people who look for outcome through making an attempt on their lives. The results of a detailed analysis of suicidal morbidity identify the population with increased risk so that it may become priority of the Program for suicidal pre¬vention.
