Summary/Abstract: Music articulation is a fundamental music expression, thrilling to the contemporary Baroque performer. In context of it not being notated in Baroque scores, its presence and use raise many questions to the harpsichord and contemporary piano performer. His or her knowledge, taste and imagination, play an important role in creation of the desired musical “image”. Significantly important are the performer’s choice of approach, national schools’ traditions, eminent performers’ instruction, period scholars. Articulation touches: legato, legatissimo, non legato, staccato, staccatissimo, marcato, portato – find their different meaning, when applied to the harpsichord and the modern grand piano.
