Summary/Abstract: This publication is devoted to choral art in Bulgaria – from its birth to the present day. It chronologically examines Bulgarian composers’ important role in national music art promotion and displays choral music’s technical progress through time – starting from mere music quotation use and later, light arrangements, up to contemporary music examples. This study also discusses current Bulgarian choir art situation, in light of world and Bulgarian social-economical changes, especially since the end of the 20th century. An emphasis is given to the relationship composer – conductor – choir as an important factor for the development of choral and choir performance art in Bulgaria.
