Summary/Abstract: Together with the Enlightenment era, the transition to a process has been made where all concepts in the world have been questioned again and all values and phenomena are reconsidered. One of the most important points in this sense of belonging is the concept of modernity as a top frame and the elements of civilization developing accordingly. Modernity which comes from root of modern concept, is an up-to-date and dynamic phenomenon with a structure that shows its impact on many points from urbanization to world wars. In this study, two foreign films shot and directed by Halit Refiğ in 1990 were investigated and particularly the perceptions of the modern and modernity of the twentieth century between 1900 and 1972 were studied along with the developments handled in a cinematographic form. In the film, the differences between the Eastern and Western modernity through the events between a Turkish teacher and an American peace corp and how Turkish scholars situated themselves in the world were examined and searched.
