THE COMMON ASPECTS OF THE PAINTINGS WITH WEDDING THEMES IN TURKISH PAINTING

Summary/Abstract: Mankind have developed and used different communication methods as a way of expressing oneself since they began to exist; it is possible to list many methods such as speech, writing, picture etc. As communities have developed these communication methods began to be regarded as ends rather than means: they tended towards realizing oneself in addition to expressing oneself and art has become one of the areas to which people refer to with this aim. Painting is one of the fields in which such trends first emerged. As in all other communities, the artist has blended his own idea with the information he acquired from his own culture and from the circumstances of the period in which he lived and concretized his interpretation based on a subject. This article studies the differences and the common points of the paintings as regards meaning and plasticity. Therefore, the article questions the existence of a common style having determined how art of painting benefit from the cultural texture. Besides, the concept of wedding has experienced cultural changes over time in our community. The reflections of those changes in wedding concept on the image of wedding in the art of painting are determined.
