Summary/Abstract: Neurodegenerative disorders, especially Alzheimer’s disease, are becoming one of the main problems of modern psychiatry and neurology. In view of the progressive aging of the population, the number of people affected by this disease is constantly growing, creating a serious challenge for the public health system. The article presents the institutional and legal mechanisms of support for patients and their families. The solutions offered by the health care system, social assistance guaranteed by the state as well as forms of support provided by non-governmental organizations were taken into account. The aim of the article is to draw attention to the significant shortcomings of the public care system in the area of prevention, treatment and rehabilitation, as well as its maladjustment to the specific needs of AD patients.
