Summary/Abstract: Publishing activity developed by many parishes in the form of periodic magazines should be treated as a phenomenon accompanying pastoral work from the very beginning of the (arch)diocese of Katowice. The author of the article intended to find and to present certain trends in publishing activity of parishes of the Diocese of Katowice starting from the first title (which began to appear before establishing of the Apostolic Administration in Upper Silesia) up to the closure of the last one in 1941. The period subjected to the research had been divided into two stages: the first from the mid-19th century (when the first Catholic magazines in Polish appeared) until 1919 and the second – from the interwar period to the beginning of the Second World War. The periodicals fit into the mainstream of the Catholic press, while remaining a good example of the local press.
