Volunteer fire brigade in Krokocice in 1929–1939

Summary/Abstract: The Volunteer Fire Brigade in Krokocice was formed on 9 December 1929. Its first president was Eugeniusz Kurnatowski, owner of Wola Krokocka estate. Within one year the first hand-operated fire-engine was bought. From 1932 the brigade was supported by a female first-aid and fire-fighting team. In 1936 the construction of a watch-tower was started, to be completed in 1940, under the supervision of German occupation authorities. The fire-brigade operated during the inter-war decades thanks to the engagement and support of its members as well as estate owners and farmers living in the neighbourhood.
