In the Footsteps of an Early Bronze Age Logboat

Summary/Abstract: In the autumn of 1924, the contemporary press reported an unparalleled archaeological discovery: the remains of a wooden boat were found during the excavations at Tószeg-Laposhalom. The present study reveals the story and rugged biography of this finding which is still unprecedented from the Bronze Age of Hungary. The article attempts to present the various sources available on the boat and, through their critical analysis, to reconstruct the physical characteristics of the object, its archaeological context, and its subsequent history.
