Summary/Abstract: This paper provides an analysis of the challenges and solutions of localizing the text of an American diamond engagement ring website from English into Romanian. How do you take a “luxury” item that has been engrained in American culture and transfer it to another culture? This paper begins with a brief history of the diamond engagement ring industry in the United States and followed by a discussion on the localization and translation of the website for one of the most prominent diamond engagement ring companies in the United States into Romanian.
