THE CHARACTER OF THE EUROPEAN CONSTRUCTION

Summary/Abstract: The Organization of European Economic Cooperation was founded as a permanentorganization of coordinating national economic policies. Also, having the task ofdistributing US aid has not been able to initiate the removal of economic and tradebarriers between member countries. The European Union was created with a view toputting an end to the great number of bloody wars left by neighboring countries. Since1950, European countries have begun to unite both economically and politically withinthe European Coal and Steel Community to ensure lasting peace. Its founding countriesare: Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
