Summary/Abstract: The paper identifies and discusses three important contributions to Romanian historiography that emerged from the work of the Institute of National History between 1920 and 1945: the creation of Romania’s first institute of historical study; the promotion of professional bibliographic work; and the initiation of a model publications program, including a first rate scholarly journal and several book series.
