Summary/Abstract: The article is an analysis of the eight criteria for truth in a work of art, as put forward by R. Ingarden in his phenomenological aesthetics. It is an attempt at a return to Polish philosophical theory on current postmodern literature. V. Pelevin's novel Buddha's little finger was chosen to demonstrate the return to rationalist and realist traditions in literary criticism, which is currently under the strong influence of postmodern discourse.
