Summary/Abstract: In the paper the author analyses the New Latin epigrams by Andreas Cricius (1482–1537) connected with Lucretia and with the figure of Jacobus Piso (? –1527), a legate of the Pope Julius II, produced probably in the year 1510. The epigrams refer to the illusion of painting, concern the painterly illustration of Lucretia’s suicide to which they assign moral-pedagogical, aesthetic, and ethic aims. Rich literary allusions of satirical character in Cricius’ epigrams are directed against Piso—they are satirical depiction of the legate’s homosexual preferences.
