Summary/Abstract: The northern side of the Segarcea-Deal village came to our attention in 2010 when making the urbanistic documentation for the Segarcea-Vale commune. Later, between 2015 and 2017, the archaeologists working for the Limes Transalutanus Project repeatedly visited the site, searching for a Roman route connecting the former frontier along the Olt River and the new border of the early third century A.D. The finding of a stamped brick during the research provided the stimulus for organising a test excavation in the summer of 2019. The excavation did not result in the best news, as the Roman artefacts were all in secondary positions, but the quite large quantity of building materials is suggestive of the proximity of a relevant Roman feature. Some new fortuitous discoveries in the fall of 2019 provided supplementary data about the perimeter for which further investigations are required.
