Summary/Abstract: This contribution complements the paper, that has been published under the title Hrvatska imena jedrenjaka izgrađenih u Splitu i na otoku Braču u 19. stoljeću (Croatian names of sailing ships built in Split and Brač in the 19th century), in Spomenica, (pg. 73-84;2018:Split), to mark 135 years of the introduction of Croatian as the official language of the city of Split authorities. This paper, based on a variety of historical resources, addresses the sailing ships that were built in the 19th century in Trogir, Split, Brač and Hvar. A particular emphasis is placed on the sailing ships bearing Croatian names that sailed under the flag of Austria-Hungary. In addition, the extent to which the Croatian National Revivial influenced their names, notwithstanding their origin, is discussed in detail. Patriotic feelings and aspirations towards the reunion of the Croatian states, which were kindled by the Croatian National Revival, had a significant influence in all areas of both political and public lives in Split and Dalmatia. They were also reflected in language: streets, squares and sailing ships were given Croatian names. The names were, however, written in Italian orthography: as other foreign names, the Croatian ones had often been derived from other languages.
