Summary/Abstract: The paper chronologically presents historical events that happened during 1806 across the Drina battlefield and that preceded and represented an introduction of sorts to the decisive Battle of Mišar (1/13 August). The events, however, are not observed only from a historiographic point of view, but are also monitored through the eye of an oral story teller and singer, an insufficiently literary memoir writer and correspondent, and a rare chronicler. While the official historiography notes only a few significant battles between Serbian and Turkish army, primarily oral or folk chronicles remember and describe tenfold battles, altercations and conflicts, as well as negotiations and rare periods of peace. The vast and diverse material of both prose and poetry paints a mythical image of the world filled with battles and conflicts, feats and heroes’ deaths, premonitions, allegoric dreams, reminiscences and sayings.
