Summary/Abstract: The revision of Romania's Constitution of 2003 aimed, among other things, at creating the conditions to guarantee the exercise of the human rights and fundamental freedoms in the context of Romania's accession to the European Union. The author's efforts focus, as he himself points out, on several revised fundamental regulations, significant to the present-day status of the Romanian society. The revised Constitution consecrates not only the right of the parties to a fair trial, but also resolution of the cases within reasonable time limits - art. 21, par. 3. According to the author, what counts as decisive is the interpretation of the constitutional provision by those invested with powers in this field.
