Summary/Abstract: This article points out the special characteristics of the new chords, used in Avant-guard piano music and their differences from the Functional Harmony rules and principals. It discusses the different types of technical, psychological and aesthetical approaches, used by the Avant-guard composers and their effect on the interpretation.
