Summary/Abstract: The basic purpose of this article is to demonstrate the archaic and anachronistic language forms contained in the collection of poetry by Jan Brzechwa Sto bajek. It turns out that the poet, as one of the precursors of the linguistic poetry for children, deliberately introduced into his poems some historical words, their forms and meanings, e.g.: androny, dziatwa, gawiedź, Piotrowa, sążeń, starościna, świekra, taradajka, żupa. Brzechwa’s vocabulary proves that his poetry is a historic, cultural, and linguistic curiosity to both the younger and older generations of readers.
