Summary/Abstract: Over the past decade Serbia has been con¬stantly adjusting its legislation to the Europe¬an: from this angle, therefore, the values pro¬claimed correspond to European criteria and standards. However what prevails in everyday life is ethno-centrism. Nationalism growingly sinks into tribalism. Pluralism, a major attain¬ment of modern liberalism, is permanently called on the carpet. The policy of homogeni¬zation breathes life into a monolithic, insular and exclusive culture that reflects governmen¬tal and social systems. This policy keeps the so¬ciety in constant tension, intolerance and hos¬tility for others.
