Summary/Abstract: Political system masterminded by King Alexander did not outlive its maker. Six years after the imposition of dictatorship, the Kingdom was undergoing equally harsh, if not harsher, political crisis. Separatism was blossoming; Croatian popular movement was turning not only against the regime, but against the state as well. Yugoslavism became a hated concept, and the party which was suppo sed to ‘make new roads’ collapsed on its own. As underage King Peter, inherited the throne, the state was governed by a weak Regency, destined to face difficult inner and foreign complications to come.
