Summary/Abstract: A large number of countries in Western civilization are experiencing a kind of vocational crisis. This may impact superiors to be more tolerant when accepting candidates into seminaries and religious communities. From the psychological point of view, however, the new generation of candidates is extremely diverse, and a profound personality assessment is required. This paper focuses on how the Catholic Church is open to psychological sciences and practices in the process of accepting candidates into the formation for priesthood. It also proposes an integral model of evaluation of the suitability of candidates before entering the formation communities. This integral model is interdisciplinary and incorporates both the natural and supernatural dimension of personality. The paper critically interprets certain diagnostic instruments and methods used in the model. In this perspective, the vocational crisis becomes a challenge in searching for the truth regarding the quality of candidates for formation.
