Summary/Abstract: The Camino de Santiago (or The Way of St. James) is a popular destination of people of all generations today. a great number of tourist services and facilities along the route adopt their services to the needs of the modern pilgrims. This work focuses on the history of the care for pilgrims on this important route and on the organization of the care from its foundation to the end of the 18th century. in the past, the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage was a route made mainly for religious reasons. The difficulties associated with making the pilgrimage often resulted in deterioration of the health of the pilgrims. providing care to the pilgrims was dependent mainly on economic resources. The poorest hospitals provided only accommodation, the quality of the care, hospital equipment and the possibility of providing food increased with better economic support of the hospitals. The number of hospitals, their quality and the quality of their care reflects the uneven historical development of making pilgrimages. publications on care for pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage were studied by the method of a retrospective analysis, Texts in Spanish and English were chosen due to their language availability.
