Summary/Abstract: During the Revolution and War of Independence of 1848–1849, the Transylvanian Catholic clergy took an active role. This was also perceived by the Austrian military power, so retaliation severely affected the priesthood. In this presentation, we try to point out, through some priestly destinies, the practical consequences of the inquiry. We also try to show what solutions have been found to prevent the reckoning, to alleviate the punishments, and how the bishop tried to replace the military reckoning with the church reckoning. In the presentation, we examine the life paths of priests who portray the following types with their personal destiny: severely punished priests, mildly sentenced clerics, those who have received only church punishment, hiding and rewarded priests.
