Summary/Abstract: The study presents the batch of medieval stove tiles discovered by chance, in 1933, in an old ceramic kiln, from Cerbureni, Argeş County. The pieces, made at the end of the 16th century, are of documentary-historical importance. The iconography identified the portrait of the voivode Petru Cercel (1583-1585), the portrait of his son, Marcu, the portrait of a princess (Griselda Báthory?), equestrian soldiers, armed with spears, as well as a hunting scene. As a technical achievement, polychrome enamel (green, brown, yellow) and white stanifer enamel were used. Some of the specimens have analogies to tiles from the same historical period discovered in the archaeological researches at the Royal Court from Târgovişte. The ceramic workshop from Cerbureni executed orders for the Wallachian voivode Petru Cercel (1583-1585).
