Summary/Abstract: In this essay John Hick’s view of the problem of the evil will be critically assessedand presented. His positive attitude towards the concept of the evil as God’s tool to improve humans has caused significant challenges in the traditional Christian understanding of the evil. Should Hick’s argumentation have weight, it would mean a fundamentalchange of the traditional Christian view of the problem of the evil.
