Trajnostni razvoj ni le velik izziv za celotno družbo, temveč tudi za visokošolske organizacije, ki v zadnjih dveh desetletjih pospešeno vključujejo paradigmo trajnostnega razvoja v svoj izobraževalni proces. Izobraževanje za trajnostni prostorski razvoj vključuje neposredno ali posredno vse vidike trajnostnega razvoja: okoljskega, gospodarskega, družbenega in kulturnega. Prostor je namreč stičišče različnih interesov, ki jih je treba v celotnem procesu urejanja prostora usklajevati, pri tem pa upoštevati trajnostni prostorski razvoj. Obstoječe vrednote o prostoru ne zadoščajo za hitro uveljavitev paradigme trajnostnega prostorskega razvoja. Potrebno je ustrezno izobraževanje posameznikov ter tudi strokovnjakov na celotnem področju urejanja prostora in na vseh ravneh izobraževanja. Zato bo treba preoblikovati visokošolski učni načrt posameznih predmetov z vključitvijo učnih vsebin in metod, ki omogočajo dolgotrajno znanje in celostno razmišljanje, pri tem pa upoštevati pomembnost medpredmetnega povezovanja. V članku je analizirana literatura s področja trajnostnega razvoja v visokošolskem izobraževanju med letoma 2002 in 2013. Teme, obravnavane v analizirani literaturi, vključujejo pojmovanja trajnostnega razvoja študentov in učiteljev, zastopanost trajnostnega razvoja in trajnostnega prostorskega razvoja v visokošolskem izobraževanju in razloge za prepočasno uvajanje teh vsebin v učni načrt. Na podlagi analize obravnavane literature so v sklepu opredeljeni ključni dejavniki, ki lahko pripomorejo k hitrejšemu vključevanju paradigme trajnostnega prostorskega razvoja v visokošolsko izobraževanje.

Sustainable development is not only a great challenge for society as a whole, but also for higher education institutions, which have been rapidly including sustainable development in their educational process in the last two decades. Directly or indirectly, education for sustainable spatial development includes all aspects of sustainable development: environmental, economic, social and cultural. Space is a junction of various interests, which requires coordinating the entire process of spatial planning, taking into account the goal of sustainable spatial development. The existing values of space are insufficient for the rapid implementation of a sustainable spatial development paradigm. Suitable education is needed by both individuals and spatial planning professionals and at all levels of education. It is therefore necessary to transform some of the academic programs in the higher education curriculum by integrating teaching content and methods that include long-term knowledge and holistic thinking, taking into account the importance of interdisciplinary integration. This article reviews literature in sustainable development in higher education from 2002 to 2013. Topics discussed include students’ and teachers’ conceptions of sustainable development, the presence of sustainable development and sustainable spatial development in higher education and the reasons for the slow introduction of this material into the curriculum. Based on a literature analysis, the last section identifies important drivers that can contribute to a more rapid integration of a sustainable spatial development paradigm into higher education.

V literaturi so na voljo številne teoretične in empirične raziskave vrednotenja učinkovitosti stavb na nepremičninskem trgu. Nekatere od njih preučujejo spremembe v cenah nepremičnin po njihovi obnovi, le malo pa se jih ukvarja z določanjem cen stavb na podlagi njihove varnosti. V članku je predstavljena raziskava, ki preučuje, ali stanovanja v varnejših stavbah v Hongkongu dosegajo višje tržne vrednosti. Za tovrstno raziskavo je Hongkong kar dober laboratorij, saj je v tako gosto poseljenem okolju, v katerem prevladujejo visoke stavbe, propadanje in nevzdrževanje stavb, ki vodi v zrušitev, lahko zelo nevarno. V raziskavi je varnost stavb merjena s ponderiranim številom nedovoljenih gradbenih del (NGD) na zunanjih zidovih stavb. NGD so dela, izvedena brez vnaprejšnje odobritve in soglasja vlade. Za ocenjevanje tržne vrednosti varnosti stavb je oblikovan model hedonskih cen. Za potrebe modela so bili poleg podatkov o nepremičninskih transakcijah pridobljeni tudi podatki o številu nedovoljenih dodatnih elementov (to je NGD na pročelju stavb) na vsaki preučevani stavbi. Na podlagi rezultatov analize je preverjenih več hipotez, ki temeljijo na teorijah samozaščite in samozavarovanja.

Theoretical and empirical studies on how building performance is valued by the property market abound in the literature. Some of them investigate changes in property prices after building renovation, but little has been done on pricing the safety performance of buildings. This article presents a study that explores whether residential properties in safer buildings command higher market values in Hong Kong. Hong Kong is a good laboratory for this study because building failures can pose a serious threat in such a densely populated high-rise environment. The study measures the safety performance of a building by the weighted number of unauthorised building works (UBWs) on the external walls of the buildings. By their nature, UBWs are building works that are constructed without prior approval and consent from the government. A hedonic price model is developed to assess the market value of building safety. For the model estimation, apart from the property transaction data, the number of unauthorised appendages (i.e., UBWs attached to the building facades) in each building studied is obtained through a building survey. Based on the analysis results, several hypotheses built upon the theories of self-protection and self-insurance are tested.

This article examines the Polish city of Toruń in terms of the compact city concept. It analyses the theoretical elements of the compact city concept using Toruń as a case study and taking into account the psychological aspects (i.e., social perception) of a compact city. The case study collected primary data during fieldwork in 2013 and 2014. The methodology consists of a literature review, satellite photo grid analysis (250 × 250 m) and social perception of the compact city (n = 128) assessed through questionnaires with representative quantitative data. The research was also supplemented with an analysis of the accessibility of the main sites in Toruń. The results are presented on a map of urban areas and graphs of social perception. The study concludes that Toruń is a compact city from the urban point of view, but it is not perceived as such from the psychological or social points of view.

Avtorja v članku raziskujeta temeljne psihološke značilnosti potencialnih kupcev nepremičnin, ki se povezujejo z njihovo odločitvijo za nakup. S pregledom raziskav se pokaže, da je večina raziskav psiholoških dejavnikov odločanja za nakup nepremičnine naravnana parcialno in razpršeno ter da proučuje posamične dejavnike neodvisno drug od drugega. Tako se zdi, da v raziskovalnem prostoru manjkajo jasno opredeljeni modeli psiholoških dejavnikov odločanja za nakup nepremičnine, ki bi integrirano in relacijsko pojasnjevali vlogo psiholoških značilnosti kupcev nepremičnin in njihova pričakovanja v zvezi z odločitvijo za nakup. Članek v tem kontekstu prepoznava dvoje psiholoških dejavnikov, in sicer motivacijske in čustvene dejavnike, ugotavlja njihovo povezanost s pričakovanji potencialnih kupcev pri odločanju za nakup nepremičnine, na koncu pa poda izhodišča za oblikovanje hipotetičnega modela.

Privatizacija velikega dela najemnih stanovanj, ki je bila značilna za vse srednje- in vzhodnoevropske države, je imela za posledico to, da se je sektor socialnih stanovanj zelo zmanjšal in za najbolj ranljive skupine pustil le malo priložnosti za stanovanje. Čeprav je bilo predvideno postopno povečanje, v Sloveniji do tega ni prišlo. V tem članku analiziramo za nekaj izbranih možnosti, koliko bi bile te za prosilce za socialna stanovanja v Mestni občini Ljubljana sprejemljive kot alternativa socialnemu stanovanju. To smo ugotavljali s poštno anketo, na katero je odgovorilo 1.048 prosilcev, ki so se prijavili na razpis za socialno stanovanje in na njem niso bili uspešni. Z uporabo hierarhičnega razvrščanja v skupine smo glede na odnos do ponujenih stanovanjskih možnosti prosilce razvrstili v tri skupine: tiste, ki so izbrali so/lastništvo in/ali socialno stanovanje; tiste, ki so bili odprti do vseh možnosti, in tiste, ki bi sprejeli le socialno stanovanje. Naši rezultati kažejo, da se prosilci močno razlikujejo glede pripravljenosti in sredstev za aktivnejšo udeležbo pri dostopu do stanovanja, seveda če le imajo take priložnosti.

This article explores the psychological characteristics of potential real estate buyers connected with their decision to buy. Through a review of research, it reveals that most studies of psychological factors in the decision to buy real estate have a partial and dispersed orientation, and examine individual factors independently. It appears that the research area is lacking clearly defined models of psychological factors in the decision to buy real estate that would integrally and relationally explain the role of psychological characteristics of real estate buyers and their expectations in relation to a decision to buy. The article identifies two sets of psychological factors, motivational and emotional, determines their interaction with potential buyers’ expectations when deciding to purchase real estate and offers starting points for forming a model.

Privatisation of a large share of the housing stock was characteristic of all central and eastern European countries, which left the majority of these countries with an impoverished social housing sector and therefore little opportunity for housing most vulnerable groups. Even though it was envisaged that this sector would gradually develop, this has not happened in Slovenia. This article analyses the acceptability of a limited number of alternative housing solutions. The alternatives were evaluated by applicants for social housing in the Municipality of Ljubljana. The survey was carried out by post and targeted unsuccessful applicants for social housing, with 1,048 respondents. On the basis of hierarchical cluster analysis, we identified three distinctive groups of applicants in relation to the acceptability of alternative housing options: those preferring shared homeownership (and social rental housing), those open to all alternatives, and those with a strong preference for social rental housing. Our findings thus demonstrate that applicants for housing vary significantly in their readiness and means to more actively engage in their housing solutions, but only if there are opportunities available.

The main thesis presented in this study is the statement on the exceptional role of the idea of imagination in the development of romantic spirituality, which finds its continuation in the spirituality of counterculture and New Age (the existence of relations between Romanticism and New Age has been discussed by Hans Sebald, Paul Heelas or Wouter Hanegraaff). The significance of the idea of imagination for Romanticism was particulary focused on by Rene Wellek. Romanticism is treated by the author as a period in which deep re-interpretation of the Western esoteric tradition. Reffering mainly to William Blake's works, the author briefly characterizes the romantic understanding of imagination. Special attention is paid to the significance of Blake for counterculture and New Age. His works were invoked by the "prophets" od counterculture - Aldous Huxley or Theodore Roszak, and the name of such an important for counterculture music band as "The Doors" was borrowed from Huxley's work "The Doors of Perception". Tracing the history of the idea of imagination on counterculture and New Age, due attention is drawn to the process of banalization to which this idea was subjected along with its introduction into pop culture.

The aim of the article is to present how nuns define the concept of femininity. Analyses base on biographical interviews conducted among inhabitants of one of Polish monasteries. To define their gender identity, nuns do not create an alternative model of femininity. Instead, they use the categories of traditional femininity which they adapt to the monastic reality using the idea of sacrifice. Respondents view on femininity is consistent with the role of women proposed by The Roman Catholic Church.

The purpose of this article is a theoretical analysis of the phenomenon of hatha-yoga, as it occurs in the western world. The issue of hatha-yoga in contemporary societies can also be viewed from the perspective of the concept of modernization. However, an interesting perspective may be also the category of "subjectivisation of religion." An individual currently chooses from a wide range of spiritual practices specific items and constructs her/his own fusion-type religion. The individual in the modem world, therefore, continue to search for transcendence and understanding of ultimate meanings. Subjectivisation process leads to a private spiritual exploration well targeting the body of the individual, which can be an expression of the value of health, well-being and emotional or hedonistic experience, seeking for risky and extreme situations (such as extreme sports and mountain climbing). An example of this type of spiritual quest in the modern western world is also hatha-yoga, which is a practice originated from India, and which is connected with a work on the body where doing certain exercises affects our psycho-physical well-being, and sometimes spiritual condition. Theoretical theses contained in the paper are mainly the consequence of five years of ethnographic research in the social world of hatha-yoga.

The subject of the present paper includes a reflection on the terminology used by the researchers of spiritual and/or sacred dimension and its consequences concerning the loss of the semantic delimitation between these two notions. To add the evident cultural transformation, embracing literature, as well. The grade of methodological difficulties and those of interpretation grows. Thus, from one hand we have to deal with vague notions with which to depict the literary reality in the aspect of its involved spiritual meaning and generating the sacred area; on the other hand we are concerned with essential changes which take place in contemporary literature. Collision of these both facts carries a researcher into the situation he feels just helpless. Imperfect tools he has been used so far prove to be incompatible with new texts. Therefore, it seems indispensable, in the realm of literature, to be precise in the usage of such ideas as "sacrum" in its metaphysical and spiritual meaning and find new analytical tools in order to go deep into the strata of the newest literature. To apply such tools could be helpful in catching direction and character dominant up to the last decade of the XX century, its axiological, philosophical, aesthetic paradigm extant in literary texts. The way that the scale of problem is presented qualifies the mental core of considerations dealing with theoretical as well as methodological subjects. In the conclusion the postulate which is formed demands a verification based upon the concrete literary works.

The aim of this article is to present, based on own research, ways of manifestation of spirituality in everyday life of the Polish nonbelievers. In case some of them, it manifests through their private interpretations of beliefs in impersonal God. A large part od them describes their spiritual dimension reffering to their emotionality, interpersonal sensitivity, aesthetic sensitivity or higher feelings.The vast majority of nonbelievers declaring spirituality recognize it as something distinct from religiosity, which gives it definitely non-religious character. As a conclusion one formulates an important methodological remark. One postulates to define spirituality in inclusive and functional way. Thus allow to incorporate into the body of this concept above mentioned - "banal" and everyday - conceptualization of this term.
