The article addresses the problem of the Polish emigrants who left the country after its accession to the EU and nowadays return to Poland. The author begins with the introduction of definitions and statistical data of the phonomemon, including its volume, dynamics and directions. Next, the implications of these returns for the domestic labour market, social policy and other policies are discussed. Special attention is given to the role of government and the dilemmas related to political reaction to the returns: the concept of reactive and active policy is presented, as the first aims at minimising the negative effects of returns on economy, while the second focuses on stimulating the return migration.

One of the basic subject, which draws a human’s attention at present times is a problem of proper relations among the members a family. It is very important for family’s life. This is why it should be showed the right source of proper law about such a group. One of them is the Book of Deuteronomy, especially The Deuteronomy Code, which is a part of this Book, contained in the Old Testament. This means, that the Book of Deuteronomy as the God’s revelation, contains His Word, which is the truth. In this context, this Book could be very helpful to show some aspects of a family life. In the light of the preceding considerations, the following family-law constituents in the Deuteronomy can be distinguished: – the right of the parents in relation to their son which is derived from the parents’ co-participation in transference of the new life, and their educative efforts; – the other element is a prescription which regulates the status of the firstborn son in his family, the right of inheritance and succession from the father; – the third element indicates the status of an out-of-wedlock son who factually enjoyed no inheritance rights which is equivalent to exclusion from the family community. Thus, the truths showed at the Deuteronomy Code seemed to be helpful at organizing of family law also nowadays.

Leitmotiv of educational style typical to saint Maria Dominika Mazzarello consists in „taking care of others.” This expression does not limit itself to the external signs of kindness or love. „Taking care of others” means for her much more; it signifies life founded on the attitudes of openness towards the „other.” Saint Maria Dominika Mazzarello is an example of a person rich in human and Christian values. She was a woman of great educational intuition and sensitivity, able to build deep interpersonal relationships with others. She had an incredible courage and passion for education. According to her, quality of religious life dedicated to formation of the young consisted in interiorization of love, clarity of motivation, rightness, and genuineness. Mother Mazzarello was aware that educational efforts realized in accordance with Salesian style required a solid praparation and competence. Therefore, she continuously was sending the young sisters to College and University in order to improve and update their educational qualifications. Educational style of Maria Dominika Mazzarello was based on respect for each person and aimed at her or his integral development. Mother Mazzarello was convinced that holistic education included also supernatural needs of every human being. This firm belief found its manifestation in her work, in which she underlined necessity of looking for answers to questions regarding sense of life, truth, and love. In educational style of saint Maria Dominika, work was understood not only as a possibility of growth, but as an effort directed towards self-formation, as well. She used to remind that real educational influence was possible only in the environment promoting community values, family spirit and authentic joy. Her educational project is a fount of inspiration still today, because also nowadays there is a need for women who, as Maria Dominika, will be able to „take care of others” with wisdom and love.

Unemployment is a worldwide problem being present even in the most developed countries. It is a complex phenomenon being specific of each country. Unemployment in Poland at the dawn of XXI century appears as a social disaster, reaching as high as 20% of workforce. Unemployment touches certain people as well as their families. These families experience many difficulties in proper functioning, starting with a non high standard of life through to predicaments and poverty being felt in every day life. For some families unemployment is the cause of a break up in relationship. The Catholic Church, for whom each person as well as the families is the priority, defends the unemployed and their families. Besides preaching the catholic social doctrine, which promotes the value of work, showing the evil of unemployment and the possibility of fighting against it, the Church provides many different actions to minimize and prevent the unemployment.

The scope of this article is to deepen the understanding of Sunday as a particular day through which to educate conscience. This problem is connected with the question of pedagogic dimension of liturgy. The author considers Sunday and the liturgical year from the view point of a moral-theologian. While analyzing the readings of Sunday Masses he is trying to find the pedagogical key present in the current Lectionary. Each Mass is a celebration of the salvation work carried out by Christ. Every Sunday readings enable us to participate ever more deeply in this unique paschal event. Even though the liturgical calendar reminds us of the same salvific stories throughout the year, we and our faith community are different every year and each year we may anew immerse in the history of our salvation. In this way the community itself is warranty of our growth.

This article first presents the concept of human dignity in the ancient, Mediaeval and contemporary thoughts as well as the contribution of Christianity in this respect. It was noticed that from the times of Kant’s rationalistic formulation of dignity this concept served to formulate not only the individual ethics but the social one as well. It was used to limit totalitarian tendencies of the modern state – leviathan. Human dignity became the fundamental norm of the human rights declaration and state constitutions. Today the principle of life is placed in opposition to the principle of the quality of life. This article stresses that the category of the quality of life cannot be the norm of morality. It must be subordinated to the norm of personalistic acceptance of the person for who he/she is. Thinking in the categories of the value of person’s life is the condition of humanism of contemporary culture including medicine.

All words, things, activities we are used in liturgy should prepare us to personally contact with God in transcendental dimension. In that point of view, the liturgy as tempus et locus of education, shows us that real belonging to Jesus Christ has created a new personality, a new consciousness, a new sense of confidence of himself. The mystery of human, according to Vaticanum Secundum doctrine, shows us the Mystery of Incarnation Word (compare Lumen gentium, n. 22). Because of education, including especially liturgical education, a human being must identify himself as a subject and person. The man has, not only, a part in Jesus Christ life, but the first of all, in His mission. He must remember to be His witness, to live according Jesus advises, to accept the Gospel truth and try to reach a sanctity by realizing his humanity. Jesus Christ, present in His Church especially in liturgical ritual, becomes a place when express an activity of God sanctifying a man and activity a human adoring a God. As we can see, only a human have an ability to know himself, to control the situation, to share himself with the others people and make a community with the other human being. The man, thanks to grace of God, is called to make an alliance of his Creator.

The article is an attempt of showing selected juridical and liturgical norms in the respect of their influence on the attitudes of the lay faithful in the fields of teaching and sanctifying in the Church. The norms order unity and variety of the tasks connected with the office of preaching the word of God and celebrating of the sacraments (Eucharist, Baptism, Anointing of the Sick and Matrimony) in building up the community of the People of God. The research shows, that the evolution of liturgical and juridical depictions is clearly formational and therefore ministerial. The faithful observing the norms is a guarantee of clarity of the reality, which the norms represent. It also helps to discover one’s proper task in the Church.

The lectio divina is a kind of prayer through the Bible, which started in the Old Testament. In the Christianity it was practiced by the old desert fathers and by the monks. S. Benedict prescribed it, by his Rule, for every monk at the start of the day. Since then it became a characteristic of the benedictine monastic spirituality and today, it seems to be as well a peculiarity of Christian spirituality. That is why we have the title lectio divina as the ground of Christian spirituality. The article is in two parts: lectio divina from a theoretical point of view, which, by definition is the exercise of personal listening to the Word of God, hence its place in the Church monastic tradition. Then it shows the lectio model according to the scheme: lectio, meditatio, oratio, contemplatio. The second part is the instrument to cure the lectio in the daily life; however it just the first step (reading), as the three further steps are absolutely individual. So the second part is the lectio on the existential point of view. In Marc’s Gospel 2:1–12 the miracle of the man sick of the palsy, does not seem to be Jesus answer to the requested recovery: it’s rather the unexpected effect of a process initially moved by the wish to listen to Jesus preach, regardless of the palsy limits. The point puts a strong accent on the symbolic value of the tale: moving towards, even when it’s had moving, Jesus Word, one makes the experience of the sin remission first, then of the physical recovery, becoming a witness of the „new man”. We can see here a possible way of lectio divina: from one existence to the Word, from the Word to one life.

Education having as its goal the offering to a young, growing person help toward the attainment of the fullness of maturity is not something static, but a process full of dynamism concerning the new realities, phenomena and the signs of the times. Such a sample of presenting solutions supporting education in the spirit of Don Bosco in modern times is the Salesian Program of Educating Youth towards Faith, being a reflection upon that, how to unite, this is what is important in the Salesian heritage of the past with what is new and indispensable in the present time. The Program pointing to challenges which the modern educator and a young person must answer to, are: rejection and strangeness toward faith and the world of adults, poverty, secularization, in the context of different beliefs and religions as well as daily life in which the young person searches for community, love, family, friends, benefits and the sense of life, simultaneously giving proposals to overcome them. Here an attitude is the attitude of an educator, who is not merely open and awaiting, but first approaches with a proposal for the young person accepting him/her as he/she is and discovering in him/her the kernel of good. The clearly defined goal of the integral development of the person summarized in words: an honest citizen and a good Christian serves it together with the succeeding stages of his/her realization indicating the sense of life, a mature personality and a proposal of faith, which concretizes in a social commitment of a young person. This is a concrete proposal addressed to the young called the Salesian Youth Spirituality, which in placing the youth in the center of attention is realized in a joyfully lived daily life, in friendship with Christ and a supportive community, which stimulates toward an active participation in the social life.
