The article aims to analyze one of the basic elements of reading competence, namely reading with comprehension of students from the 11th grade based on an excerpt from the novel “Bel Ami” by Guy de Maupassant. We outline the theoretical concepts which determine the idea of communicative competence, functional literacy, reading literacy, active reader. We present a practical analysis of the first three tasks from a test focused on verifying the basic knowledge of literature. Following our observations we reach a conclusion on the specific capability of the literary text to be converted into a training “lab” for building competencies in Bulgarian language and literature education.

In present work the parametric interaction of two optical waves presented by their slowly varying amplitude functions A1(z) and A2(z) in isotropic nonlinear medium is investigated. The corresponding system of nonlinear amplitude differential equations describes the processes of third-harmonic generation and THz generation in femtosecond region. It is found analytical solution of this system, characterizing the periodic exchange of energy between the two waves. The obtained result can be used for investigating different parametric processes in nonlinear dielectric medium, depending on the value of the wavenumber mismatch Dk. These effects are directly related to modern communication systems and optical sensors.

In the present study, some electrical properties of polylactic acid (PLA) composite films with different percentages of MgO – 0 wt%, 2 wt%, 4 wt% and 8 wt% were investigated. Composite films were prepared using a Brabender Plastograph EC Plus blender under controlled electric heating for 5 minutes at 190 ° C. The films obtained were charged by the corona discharge method using a tri-electrode system for 1 minute under room conditions. Positive or negative 5kV voltage was applied to the corona electrode. 1 kV voltage of the same polarity as that of the corona electrode was applied to the grid. The surface potential of the charged samples was measured by the vibrating electrode method with compensation. The time dependencies of surface potential were investigated. The results obtained show a significant change in the electret behavior of PLA composite films after insertion of MgO particles with different concentration. Some dielectric and impedance characteristics of composite films were also studied. Dielectric permittivity was calculated. The results obtained show a change in dielectric permittivity by increasing the concentration of the inserted MgO particles in the PLA matrix.

In this text-experiment I will try to think in a new direction the proximity of illustricture with the figurology of Boyan Manchev. Illustricture is a dynamic mode of work of the introduced here concept figure-form (dynamized form), through which it becomes understandable why and how a figurative potentiality can evolve to a conceptual opportunity. Figurativеness can also be thought as one unlocking its own field of potentiality and self-actualizing forceful virtuality. The non-classical hypothesis of that experiment is: the being’s act of affirmation of linguistic meanings illustricturatively creates (unpredictable) essences, as long as it contains within itself repetitive structure charged with deviation.

The practical models for parental mutual assistance, which are gaining popularity in Bulgaria recent years, are considered in this article. The interest towards this theme was provoked by the alternative possibilities that these models could represent towards formal educational institutions. The models for parental assistance provoke a new kind of thinking, an attitude and behavior towards problems of children’s education, that are based on values and personal responsibility.

The aim of the article is to define and describe the functional diagnosis as a model for providing psychological and pedagogical assistance to students with special educational needs (SEN). Due to the use of this term in many scientific contexts (pedagogy, psychology, medicine), as well as in the area of diagnostic and therapeutic practice, it is difficult to give its coherent explanation. The analyzed methods of applying the concept of functional diagnosis indicate a selective understanding of the role and tasks attributed to educators, psychologists, teachers and other specialists. Because of that the main value of the functional diagnosis, namely the complexity of support, is not sufficiently implemented, which directly translates into the quality of education of students with special educational needs.

After abolishing the grammar-translation method in foreign language teaching, the use of poetry in Spanish language textbooks is considerably restricted. Despite the efforts of modern Spanish academics to rehabilitate it theoretically as a valuable didactic tool in the acquisition of principal language skills, the authors of recent Spanish language textbooks (for speakers of other languages) continue to accord it a secondary function, to apply it as illustrative material or to totally ignore it. The present article sets the aim of demonstrating the main tendencies in using poetic texts in Spanish language teaching on the basis of a comparative analysis of a considerable corpus of textbooks, published and edited after 2000.

The text “confessions” gathers the memories of a Bulgarian musician who has lived abroad, in France, for over 30 years. She is one among the thousands who were “officially migrated” by “the Bulgarian Music Depart¬ment”. These people were granted a passport and visas in exchange for a percentage of what they earned abroad. The Bulgarian musicians were very much appreciated and sought for in Europe and in the whole world and they made up the core of the most renowned symphony and opera orchestras in the world. As she confided in her memoir, the conductor Nelly Pinteva-Bance has always thought it was arduous to tell who she really is: on the one hand, she is convinced she is a citizen of the world as Music is a universal language, on the other, she feels entirely integrated into her French family and France that is for her the symbol of Liberty and Democracy. But, deep down in¬side, regarding her sensitivity and emotional world, she has the feeling she remains Bulgarian which entails for her the awareness that she must em¬body and perpetuate Bulgarian culture, the sole riches of her small and poor homeland. On the occasion of Bulgaria joining the EU, Nelly Pinteva-Bance con¬ducted a Bulgarian orchestra in a series of concerts in France as well as in Switzerland, at the United Nations building in Geneva and at the Town Hall in Bern, with members of the diplomatic corps and of the Swiss government as well as simple citizens and Bulgarians living abroad. The interpretations of classical Bulgarian music, which Western Europeans are hardly familiar with, received an extremely enthusiastic reception and emotion was at its highest when the public started chanting “Welcome to Europe”.
