The Advent period covers a time of four weeks before Christmas. Christmas is a holiday in Christian traditionary culture when celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. St. Barbara and St. Nicholas are the first Saints of Advent period and they announce the arrival of the Christmas holiday. Except St. Barbara and St. Nicholas, St. Lucia stands out in Christmas customs and the Advent period. On St. Lucia Day, tradition is described as the last day for sowing wheat. On Christmas Eve, Christmas candles and Yule logs are lit, lenten dishes are eaten and preparation is underway for the Holy Mass at midnight. The traditional customs of the Trogir region during the Advent period are similar to the remnants of the customs of the central Adriatic, but there are stories and customs by which the Trogir area is special. Special dishes were prepared, special songs were sung, and special legends of medieval Trogir were preserved. In Croatian traditionary culture, the custom of the first guest is also present, on Christmas Eve, in the Trogir region. According to belief, the first guest brings good luck. Christmas Eve is the richest day in Christian traditionary culture, and this is proven by the customs in the Trogir area.

This is a project in which I’ve been working hardly for 6 months in Belgrade during the year 2011. Methodology was relaxed conversation with some questions answers. Informants could explain some social networks and new problems which I didn’t noticed. I wanted to know what people and his/her families think about godfather/ godmother in our country, and is it alive or dying phenomenon in Serbian society. How we see others and how others see us in social networks, giving & taking presents. The most important question was about a man who would be the best to adopt our children.

In Albanian folk tradition the actions or beliefs by which the guest or friend is respected are numerous. To any person that knocks on the door and shouts: “O zoti i shpisë, a do mysafir?” ("O lord of the house, do you want a guest?"), the door must be opened saying: “Mirë se të pruni Zoti” (“Good that God brought you”). So the very words “Mirë se të pruni Zoti” ("Good that God brought you”), clearly show that the guest is not considered a simple man, ordinary like all other people. He possesses something more; he has been brought to the door of the host by God Himself. In fact, according to tradition and canon: “Po të hini miku në shpi, gjak me të pasë, do t’i thuash – “Mirë se erdhe!” ("If a guest enters your home, even if being in blood feud with him, you will say to him, “Welcome!”). It is popularly believed that the guest or friend is sent by God to test the character, generosity, and spirit of the family whose door is knocked on, and that the friend brings God's blessing, health, and abundance into the host family.

In this paper we have analyzed this traditional costume in several aspects. Initially we dwelled on the relevance of costume which does not serve only to cover the body but also represents both, intangible and tangible folk heritage. Then we continued with geographical extent of its use; we described types of fabric materials, their coloring, way of working, decorations, categorization by age (girls, bride and old woman), highlighting all parts of costumes that make the difference of age. Next we explained what parts in its structure could be considered as genuine preservation of traditional costume and what are the changes it gained over time; it is shown that the in which it is now worn are: family joys such as wedding or similar and/or folk manifestations and festivals. The research was based on a rich scientific literature, as there are many scholars who have studied traditional Albanian costumes, such as: Andromaqi Gjergji, Rrok Zojzi, Aferdita Onuzi, Agim Bido, Ukë Xhemaj, Drita Halimi Statovci, Bashkim Lajçi, as well as on interviews with women who have made and worn this dress, those who continue to make them, and those who continue to wear them occasionally. The work is also illustrated with photographs.
