Киселото мляко и неговите локални инструментализации – между родовата памет, културното наследство и европейските проекти

Author(s): Ivaylo Markov / Language(s): Bulgarian / Issue: 2/2017

Food and food processing are among those elements of cultural heritage which become invested with considerable emotional charge. Food heritage is often constructed within particular national homogenization processes so these culinary traditions are usually considered typical and characteristic for the nation or the ethnic group. Yoghurt is typically perceived as a Bulgarian national symbol. During the last decade, however, it has been subjected to a specific process of localization related to the local cultural history and heritage of the municipality of Trun. Serving as prerequisites, the historical facts and genealogical memories create links with the significant figure of the microbiologist Dr. Stamen Grigorov, who comes from this region and his scientific discovery of the lactic acid bacteria. Thus yoghurt quickly becomes an important resource for the implementation of local development projects in the context of cultural tourism whereby it acquires new economic significance on the general level as well as for the individual owners oriented to retail production.

Китай като общество на рисковете на системния преход: постсоциалистическият преход и неговите рискови компоненти

Author(s): Kyung-Sup Chang / Language(s): Bulgarian / Issue: 3-4/2017

This study analyzes contemporary China as a complex risk society in which social, economic, and ecological risk syndromes pertaining to highly diverse levels and systems of development are manifested simultaneously. In particular, due to its so-called gradual approach to system reform, China is beset with a complicated mix of socialist and post-socialist (marketized) syndromes of risks. Gradual reform is in practice a sort of peripatetic pluralism in economic and social reform for maximizing developmental utilities of all types of human, material, and institutional resources. This policy line is inevitably accompanied by similarly plural sources and factors for social, economic, and ecological risks. The unprecedented temporal and systemic complexity in China’s risk structure has crucial implications for the country’s much deplored tendency for inequalities. In particular, class inequalities and regional disparities seem to be manifested in risk dimensions no less critically than in material dimensions. The state’s developmentalism alone is no solution to risk inequalities or risk complexities.

Кои са най-ефективните преподавателски методи в обучението по природни науки (и по-големият брой учебни часове означава ли непременно по-високи резултати – по данни на PISA 2015)

Author(s): Svetla Petrova / Language(s): Bulgarian / Issue: 5/2018

The article analyzes the relationship between teaching methods and their effectiveness in the science learning. It is based on the science component of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA). In most educational systems participated in PISA, including Bulgaria, using teacher directed and adaptive instruction is associated with better scores on science. By contrast, inquiry-based instruction is associated with lower achievement in science. Why is that? Does it mean that the PISA findings do not support the conviction that the development of science skills through inquiry is a vital part of learning science in school. These are the questions that are investigated in the article. The author is a PISA 2015 National Project Manager in Bulgaria.

Author(s): E. Bocharova,Olga Echevskaya / Language(s): Russian / Issue: 2/2014

The article analyzes collaborative consumption, the practice, which is new for Russian society, and – as part of the “sharing economy” – alternative to the ideals of consumer society. Methodological foundations of the research are grounded in the four principles of the sharing economy: “critical mass”, “idling capacity”, “belief in commons” and “trust between strangers”. Based on the interviews with participants of popular Internet communities for collaborative consumption in Russia, we discuss the contexts of the development of collaborative consumption, forms of organization, practices and motives of the participants to join the community. The interviews demonstrate that this is the idling capacity, not the intention to save money that drives the development of collaborative consumption in Russia. At the same time, collaborative consumption is seen as a “healthy alternative” to consumerism, and as a more efficient way of using the idling capacity of things and the resources of community.
