Skutki dziesięciu lat członkostwa w Unii Europejskiej dla suwerenności Polski
Sovereignty of a country is its remarkable value and an international characteristic which differentiates it from other countries as it attests the country’s independence and autonomy. A sovereign state is a state which has its own unrestricted domestic and foreign policy. The only restrictions are imposed by the law and any international alliances. This article aims at showing how the fact that Poland joined the European Union influenced its sovereignty. Not only does the author present many interesting questions, theses and hypotheses, but he also tries to show that a voluntary membership in the EU was essential and inevitable for Poland. He also claims that it strengthens Polish sovereignty. The article also shows that if the EU wants to play a significant role in the new international order, it should transform itself from the Economic and Monetary Union to a strong federation of nation states, which will also involve a fiscal, banking, socio-political and military union.
