Homage to Jerzy Rusek, a world famous Polish Slavicist specializing in Bulgarian and other Balkan languages; his work on the Bulgarian language includes Declension and Use of Cases in the Chludow’s Triode. A Study of the Development of Analytical Forms in Bulgarian (1964), Studies of the History of the Bulgarian Vocabulary (1984) and History of Occupational Names in Slavic Languages (1996). Prof. Dr. Hilmar Walter (born 1933) is generally considered the most eminent foreign expert on Bulgarian Language Studies. His work is known and appreciated not only in the German-speaking countries, but also worldwide. He is a fellow of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Doctor Honoris Causa of the Universities of Veliko Turnovo and Sofia as well as a member of several scientific societies in Germany. He has contributed actively to the development of Bulgarian Studies at Leipzig University and to the comparative study of Slavic languages at the same institution.

The editor-in-chief presents the Pedagogical almanac journal aiming the development of pedagogical science as well as pedagogical practice. The original idea of the former editor-in-chief – prof. dr. Marin Liuliushev and the editorial board for establishing an official scientific edition of the Faculty of Education at “St. Cyril and St. Methodius” University of Veliko Tarnovo in 1993 is submitted. The achievements of the editorial boards and authors until 2018 are outlined. The emphasis is laid on the work completed as follows: two board have been built – International Editorial Board and Board of Anonymous and Independent Reviewers; the technology of double “blind” reviewing has been applied; young authors have been motivated and encouraged to publish actively original works; the cooperation between scientists from different generations over the world has been stimulated; the “author – reader” and “reader – author” communication has been perfected. The contribution of the Pedagogical almanac journal for increasing the quality of teaching process, qualification and postgraduate education of students and school teachers is promoted.
