For more than three decades depopulation and ageing have been the main trends in the demographic development of Bulgaria at both national and regional levels. In the regional aspect, however, the emergence and deepening of the processes of depopulation and demographic ageing in many settlements and entire municipalities have been observed since the 1930s, as is the case with rural depopulation in North-western Bulgaria. Along with the analysis of the current demographic development of Bulgarian municipalities, it is clearly emphasized that depopulation and ageing are not temporary crisis phenomena in the country’s demographic development, but are key indicators of a long and irreversible transition. Its main result is the replacement of the relatively populous generations of the post-war baby-boom era with constantly shrinking and ageing populations. The subject of the study is the tracking of the spatial connections and dependencies between the indicators for the demographic structures and processes. The balance formed on their basis between natural and mechanical growth is one of the main indicators of the current demographic change. The task is to reveal key patterns between the studied factor and result characteristics, which outline the picture of the deepening demographic and socio-economic inequalities in the development of the 265 municipalities in the country during the first two decades of this century.

The aim of the present study is to analyse the socio-demographic profile of persons under 45 years of age in Bulgaria who worked remotely with IT before the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as to outline the specifics of this form of paid work related to work arrangements, health and safety at work as well as how work and personal/family life are reconciled. For the purposes of the analysis, we use data from the survey undertaken by Еurofound and entitled ‘European Working Conditions Survey’ 2015. The results from the descriptive statistical analysis show that out of all flexible forms of employment, remote work used to be the least spread across Bulgaria prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the group of respondents, aged up to 45, teleworking using IT was most of all applied by individuals of higher education levels, most commonly employed in the private sector. The analysis shows that there is a higher degree of satisfaction of this form of labour as well as a good level of reconciliation of professional, private and family life. Other specificities of IT teleworking refer to the flexible working hours, which however in a number of cases are accompanied by additional hours of labour. From a perspective of health and safety at work, the most common complaints and health problems that result from prolonged work hours with computers and electronic devices are sleep problems, headaches, eye pain, chronic fatigue and decreased physical activity. Ensuring health and safety at work and good level of reconciliation of professional, private and family life for teleworkers requires prevention of health risks and update of the regulations relevant to this increasingly widespread form of employment.

This article highlights the results from a research of modern alternative forms of civic engagement in the area of labour that emerge, manifest themselves and develop with no in-betweens such as unions, companies, employers’, non-governmental or any other organizations. The subject of this research are the free consultations in a Bulgarian Internet forum on labour matters. The analysis shows that an individual labour case would give rise to some acts of civic behaviour (free consultations) as it generates informal voluntary social relationships connected with standing a certain position supportive to another/the others. The thesis defended herein is that such relationships would transform the virtual space into an efficient space of everyday civic engagement and civic culture.

Police officers belong to the occupational group that is particularly ex-posed to work related stress. As part of their official duties officers help people who have experienced traumatic situations in their lives. Long-term contact and helpingtrauma victims may on the one hand cause certain negative consequences in the formof secondary traumatic stress, and on the other, can be a source of positive changes, understood as secondary posttraumatic growth. The aim of the study is to determinethe severity of negative and positive posttraumatic changes among police officers ex-posed to secondary trauma and their connections with sociodemographic variables, workload and history of one’s own trauma. The research also aims to determine therelationship between the negative and the positive consequences of secondary expo-sure to trauma. 520 police officers on duty and in contact with trauma victims tookpart in the research. The study used a survey specifically developed for this purposeand two standard measurement tools, i.e.: the Secondary Traumatic Stress Inventoryand Posttraumatic Growth Inventory. The officers participating in the study displayedrelatively low intensity of negative consequences of exposure to secondary trauma,as well as varying levels of positive posttraumatic changes — 40% of respondentsshowed a low, 34% an average and 26% a high degree of secondary growth. Soci-odemographic variables and workload had little influence on the occurrence of bothnegative and positive consequences of secondary exposure to trauma. A factor thatsignificantly differentiated the severity of secondary stress and growth was their ownhistory of trauma. Moreover, the obtained results showed positive relations betweensecondary stress and secondary growth

Among other factors, the ability of police officers to act is determined bythe aptitude test carried out when admitted to the police school, which examineswhether the police officer will be able to meet the physical and psychological expecta-tions placed on him in his later work. In Hungary, a new regulation has been in placein this regard since 1 January 2021. In my thesis, I present and compare the previousand new regulations, as well as try to find out the motives for the change. I will alsoexamine the relationship between health, psychological and physical fitness tests andthe tactical capabilities of police officers

This article examines teachers' views on linguistic and cultural diversity of children in preschool and primary school. Teachers' views reveal that their knowledge is limited and they are asked to teach students based on their personal beliefs and efforts. The teachers' lack of knowledge about linguistic and cultural diversity affects both the direct contact they have with the children and the cooperative relationships with their parents. This implies communication problems between them which in turn affect the education of children who have linguistic and cultural diversity. The need for teacher training is therefore highlighted in order to be able to effectively utilize the cultural and linguistic capital of children and their families at all levels.

Nicolae Gheorghe’s legacy is unique for the Roma. A man that dedicated all his life and knowledge to understand the past and current realities and further hoping to contribute to a different future of the European Roma. There are several articles published presenting his life, but only few talks about his ideas, values, and vision. The “gheorghianism” is at its first steps of conceptualization, within the academia and civil society, at almost a decade since Nicolae Gheorghe passed-away. The current text it is an introductory article of some of the struggles and intellectual challenges of Nicolae Gheorghe.

Today, Roma people are one of the most underrepresented communities in Europe, facing a rise in negative attitudes towards them. In many societies, it is considered acceptable to discriminate against Roma people by invoking presumed negative traits assumed to be common among all Roma individuals. These traits are often associated with criminality, deviance, and a parasitic lifestyle. The aim of this study is to highlight the theoretical aspects related to anti-Roma sentiment, as well as the factors contributing to this form of discrimination, such as prejudice, nationalism, and ethnic identity.

The subject of the relationship between Roma and the State in post-communist Romania can be representative in order to measure the proximity and also the distance of the Romanian society from two major objectives: the democratization, in the 90s, and the Europeanization in the following decade – not only the integration in the EU structures, but also in a system of European values: democracy and rule of law, tolerance and social solidarity. The following two case studies are illustrative for the aforementioned periods. My analisys focuses in the first phase on the actions of Romanian representatives, and consecutively concerns the European dimension – what Romania, as a democratic and European state, did or should have done.

The Roma people have been the subject of many wrongdoings and obstacles since their first appearance in the European space. As the largest minority in Europe, the people of Roma origin have managed to influence, more or less, the culture of many countries in the European Union. The analysis will consider multiple educational areas such as history, geography or civic culture where Roma are represented in a different way, depending on their history in that territory. Particular attention will be paid to Germany because it offers a number of extremely well-applied methods and practices while having few people of Roma origin.

Starting from the idea that any offer follows of a possible request, we can admit that both magical practices and psychotherapy come as a response to some needs of people, more or less aware but, yet, manifested. In this workpaper, I propose myself, on the one hand, to highlight the role and contributions of Roma women in preserving the mental and emotional health, but also the well-being of individuals in a pre-psychotherapy and contemporary psychotherapy society. The specialized literature attributes this practice of predicting the future mainly to the Roma under an apparently ethnological approach but full of essentialism, stereotypes and prejudices, and even, sometimes, as a form of fraud.

Nicolae Gheorghe was born in 1946, in Roşiorii de Vede. In 1968, Nicolae entered the Department of Sociology of the Faculty of Philosophy from the University of Bucharest. He finished, in 1972, as valedictorian, with an average grade of 10. Since he was hired in 1972 at the Center for Sociological Research, Nicolae has been involved in several research about the Roma, of which we want to mention two: in 1974, the Communist Party launched a research on Roma, which aimed to find out the causes of their marginalization in Romania; and in 1976, he worked on a project aimed at ”social integration of young gypsies”. Most likely, these projects targeting the Roma led Nicolae to take possession of this study about relatives in Glod.
