New to CEEOL?
The Central and Eastern European Online Library (CEEOL) was founded in November 1999 and re-launched in January 2016 as a completely newly programmed, cloud-hosted repository with enhanced functionalities for publishers, editors as well as for institutional and individual users.
During the last twenty years CEEOL became a leading repository offering a highly specialized and comprehensive collection of full text indexed documents in the fields of Humanities and Social Science publications from and about Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe.
Journal articles, eBooks and Grey Literature items are included in 50+ languages, allowing access to the primary source in one repository and fostering the language diversity in academic research and publishing. CEEOL from the very beginning took responsibility and advocacy for academic publishing in Humanities and Social Sciences in the respective native languages.
CEEOL supports publishers with various models of indexing, archiving and dissemination, as well for fee-based paid content as for open access inclusion.
The dissemination process of content included in CEEOL includes the following discovery systems: Google Scholar, ProQuest´s Serial Solutions, Summon, Primo Central, Alma, EBSCO´s EDS Discovery Service and Knowledge Base, TDNet and OCLC.
Via CEEOL´s partnership with Clarivate Analytics/Web of Science allows Web of Science editors having access to the CEEOL platform for easier analysis, selection and indexing of CEEOL journals that interest the Web of Science community.
Upon joining CEEOL, partner publishers benefit of
- high visibility and awareness
- full text indexing by Google Scholar, Primo® and Summon® (ProQuest)
- opportunity to reach new audience through CEEOL´s institutional and individual subscribers
- annual revenue sharing program for Paid Content
- usage statistics on article level
- dedicated CEEOL Country Coordinator network for communication and support
Participation in CEEOL requires to meet certain criteria and undergo an evaluation process, starting with an online registration, followed by evaluation and if applicable by conclusion of a distribution licensing agreement.
Post-publication efforts for Open Access Journals and Open Access eBooks, like instant, perpetual hosting, indexing and abstracting according to international standards, marketing and dissemination demand highly qualified experts and have significant related costs.
Therefore, an Open Access Journal and Open Access eBook Participation Fee allows CEEOL to manage these efforts in a fiscally responsible manner.
We believe in the necessity to maintain, enrich and provide sustainable access to native language humanities and social science publications from and about Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe for the worldwide scholarly community with corresponding research interests.
