With the development of technology, teachers face the challenge of finding new and creative methods to improve the educational process in their work with preschool children and cartoon films for children can be un instructional and educational tool for using in the classrooms, preschools or other educational activities for preschool children. Using cartoon films for children could be a very interesting method, instructional and could improve children’s attention, improve language and communication skills, establish relationships between subjects in the film and develop problem-solving skills, enhance their imagination and help comprehend emotions and discussions about them. In an experiment realised with children 4-6 years in 4 public and private preschools in Tirana, while showing cartoon films for children in Albanian language and produced by public artistic institutions during the years ’80, ’90, it was noticed that the children were interested and engaged in discussing about the topics of the cartoon films content. Showing cartoon films for children as un instructional method for explaining topics about hygiene and health, respecting rules and community, helping others and preventing bullying, resulted to be a very useful tool for implementing the activities of the basic-preschool-curricula and that facilitated the work of teachers in getting the attention of children, explaining important topics and involving children in discussions.

Views of Albanian literature for children

Keywords: literature; legend; poem; novel; writer; study; children;

After the New Age, a period which many contemporary researchers define as the stage where the first foundations of modernity were laid in the society-wide mentality, we have another relationship with the mythical past, since they were no longer seen as figures with strength and size divine, but as creatures from which the past came through artistic whimsy. Thus, oral traditions and fairy tales had a much greater and direct influence on the literary process. They strengthened it and became a primary source of subjects, a wide gallery of characters further delineating the various literary genres and genres. Regarding the Albanian literature for children, we can affirm that during the period of the National Renaissance, in the wake of the numerous social, political, and cultural contributions undertaken by the protagonists of this great movement, a very useful work was done for the drafting of texts money for Albanian schools. The renaissance saw the creation of books for the younger generations as a major obligation, and in this way, the number of writings dedicated to children increased significantly. Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to document the progress of Albanian children’s literature in distinctive styles, forms, and norms through which this literature passed and was consolidated. Method: To realize this article, I relied on two basic methods; in the synchronic and diachronic one, with the aim of bringing a more complete and analytical view of the phenomena that appear in this literature. Conclusion: Following the tradition and enriching it with works and authors of different periods with consolidated literary styles and physiognomy, is proven through a detailed analysis where the evolutionary process of this literature is verified.

Firing Costs and Inventor Turnover

Firing Costs and Inventor Turnover

Author(s): Emre EKİNCİ / Language(s): English / Issue: 2/2023

Keywords: Patents; Innovation; Wrongful Discharge Laws; Firing Costs; Worker Turnover;

This paper examines the effect of firing costs on inventor turnover using the patent data provided by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for the 1975-2003 period. The adoption of the wrongful discharge laws in the US is considered as an exogenous increase in firing costs. As states adopt these laws at different dates, a quasi-experimental setting allows us to estimate a casual effect. Using the existing holdup theories investigating the employment relationship, we conjecture that the effect of firing costs on inventor turnover hinges on the extent to which the inventor’s knowledge set is transferable to competing firms. We measure knowledge transferability by the number of co-authors an inventor has filed a patent with, his or her specialization across technological classes and reliance on the prior art patented by the current employer. Our analysis shows that these variables alter, as predicted by the theory, how increased firing costs affect inventor turnover.

Interrelationships in Inventory Turnover Performance Between Supplier and Customer Firms

Interrelationships in Inventory Turnover Performance Between Supplier and Customer Firms

Author(s): Joseph J. Henry,Peter Christensen,James C. Brau / Language(s): English / Issue: 2/2023

Keywords: Inventory Turnover; Supply Chain Efficiency; Inventory Factor Model;

Using inventory turnover to measure the efficiency of corporate inventory management, we perform econometric analyses to verify whether the inventory efficiency of a firm’s supply chain partners is a statistically significant driver of the firm’s own inventory efficiency. We test two mutually exclusive hypotheses. First, suppliers hold inventory on behalf of customers, effectively displacing inventory up the supply chain and resulting in a negative correlation between supplier and customer inventory turnover. Alternatively, inventory efficiency is integrated along the supply chain, resulting in a positive correlation between supplier and customer inventory turnover. Our bivariate and multivariate analyses of both firm- and industry-level data support the “integration” hypothesis of higher inventory efficiency along the supply chain. Our findings highlight the importance of expanding the research and practice of working capital management beyond the firm-level.

Author(s): Ebru Aydoğan,Esen Kara / Language(s): English / Issue: 2/2023

Keywords: Corporate Sustainability; Financial Performance; Endogeneity; Panel Data; System GMM;

One of the frequently mentioned issues in the literature is that studies analyzing the relationship between corporate sustainability and financial performance do not reach a consensus on the existence and direction of the relationship. This study is aimed to contribute to the literature by analyzing the relationship between corporate sustainability practices and financial performances of 58 non-bank firms included in the Borsa Istanbul (BIST) Sustainability Index between the years 2015-2021. The study employed the System Generalized Method of Moments (system GMM) estimator, which is one of the dynamic panel data models. The results of the analysis can be summarized as follows; (i) there is a positive relationship between corporate sustainability practices and both market-based and accounting-based financial performance indicators, (ii) corporate sustainability positively affects different financial performance indicators at different terms, (iii) sustainability investments affect the market value of businesses more and faster than the return on assets, and (iv) the relationship between corporate sustainability and financial performance is dynamic, and the endogeneity problem should be taken into account in the analysis of the relationship between them.

The covid pandemic, which started in December 2019, was announced with a delay of two months in many developing countries like Turkey. With the announcement of the first cases in Turkey in the second week of March 2020, it became clear that a precise different situation would be experienced in the socioeconomic and health fields, which people had never faced before. Also, It took time for the World Health Organization to decide whether Covid-19 was a pandemic or an endemic. Meanwhile, the first problem faced by the public was the contradictory statements made by politicians about what happened. However, the issue that everyone discussed the most was the immune system and the biopolitics of politicians regarding the covid -19 vaccine and its development process. Public understanding of science has led governments to be unable to eliminate covid-related manipulations during covid’s evolution from endemic to the pandemic. After a while, governments tried to cover up the lack of vaccination by using these manipulations by the media. This whole process was built on the biopolitics of immunization and eventually led to the strengthening of public opposition to vaccines. The first aim of this article is to present how the government’s science communication strategy in Turkey has developed a collective resistance to vaccines through a case study. This analysis applies the “Four Moments” processes from Michael Callon’s article “Law, Power, action, and Belief: a new sociology of knowledge.” In addition, the article aims to show the underlying reasons for the anti-vaccination opposition that has been experienced in Turkey in the last two years and has grown stronger over time.

Higher education must respond to dynamically changing job market needs and this has become the third mission of higher education institutions. Traditional methods of sharing knowledge and developing students’ skills are not satisfactory. For this reason, it is necessary to seek teaching alternatives, such as PBL (Problem-Based Learning) and PjBL (Project-Based Learning). This paper presents the idea of applying the above-mentioned methods to the BA in Linguistics for Business at the University of Lodz, an innovative and interdisciplinary BA programme combining linguistics with management. The participants combine skills and knowledge gained throughout their studies, i.e. linguistics, intercultural communication, accounting and finance, or selected aspects of running a business. Moreover, creating group BA projects reflects real-life situations students may encounter in the workplace.

Anthropolinguistic Tools to Study Political Linguistics. The Case of Donald Trump’s 2020 Campaign Discourse

Author(s): Marta Strukowska,Piotr P. Chruszczewski / Language(s): English / Issue: 16/2022

Keywords: political linguistics; anthropological linguistics; communicational grammars; ethnography of communication; American presidential campaign discourse; text analysis; Donald Trump;

The paper presents an anthropolinguistic study of Donald Trump’s 2020 presidential campaign discourse. The study can be situated within the scope of political linguistics. The interdisciplinary method of research applied here rests upon the understanding of human communication functioning in terms of communicational grammars of specific discourses that comprise rules of language use set against the background of immediate contexts of use. The key idea underbracing this study is that language is a rule-governed, conventions-based system of practice (e.g., de Saussure [1916] 2011, Sapir 1921, Hymes 1972, Saville–Troike [1982] 2003, Lucy [1996] 1999) and a conventional type of performance which allows for building a nexus of typified relations. Another overarching goal of this paper is to show that human interaction is mostly both a structurally hardwired and functionally (pragmatically) driven linguistic practice. The analysis sets out to explore Donald Trump’s texts according to the Anthropolinguistic Model of Communication (AMC) (Strukowska 2022) as a pattern recognition model that provides a contextual overview of elements of communication and functions as a solid platform for documenting discursive practices (Chruszczewski 2011: 199–263).

Author(s): Ibrahim L. Awad / Language(s): English / Issue: 4/2023

Keywords: Monetary Seigniorage; Fiscal Seigniorage; Structural VAR Model; Central Bank’s Balance Sheet

This study adopts the model of CB’s balance sheet and government budget identity developed by Klein & Neumann (1990) to investigate the question of “Will the effect of monetary seigniorage on CPI inflation and real GDP growth be differentiated based upon the adopted monetary policy regime and the initial source of seigniorage?” The study compares Egypt and Qatar, as both countries apply asymmetric monetary policy regimes. Conclusions by structural VAR model are: (i) monetary seigniorage does not affect either CPI inflation or GDP growth in Egypt. The opposite is true in the case of Qatar. (ii) in contrast to the case of Qatar, the mechanism of the money supply channel is broken in Egypt because the central bank of Egypt applies a sterilization policy to maintain dual objectives for monetary policy, namely foreign exchange rate and inflation rate.
