Summary/Abstract: In historical and cultural context Dimitrija Miladinov (1810-1862) was a prominent publicist, poet, translator, folklorist and pedagogue and as such he elevated himself as a leader and educator of the new generation of educators and revivers in the second half of the 19th century. As a result of his work as a distinguished educator, he directed his activities towards collecting relics of Macedonian cultural heritage. Together with his brother Konstantin, they collected folkloristic materials which they have published in their Anthology with the help of the Croatian Archbishop Josip Juraj Strossmayer; he also collected manuscripts and numismatic artifacts (old coins with historical value). We can find evidence of his interest in this field through his correspondence where we can also find evidence of the Macedonian literary heritage.
