Summary/Abstract: The figurative painting from 1970s to 1975s brings a series of new plastic implementations that enrich the plastic and the semantic area of the works through deeply significant epic connotations. The plastic and semantic character of this period is reflected by a number of distinct peculiarities. The plastic formula of the figurative painting adds new structural and constructive concepts interested in the decorative superficiality and experimental combinations. At the same time, the semantic message focuses on the founding reflection of the contemporary reality, social and cultural conditions and values. The new intentions involve the plastic expression of the figurative painting in a process of superficial decoration, scheming and conventional character, which, through the technical character of the modelling, outline two intentions or directions of plastic approach: one, which is interested in geometrical constructivism, formed in an architectural integrated form, by harsh, rigid, intensely monumental patterns; another one is concerned with nonconstructive, soft, graceful, sometimes impulsive and spontaneous modelling through idealized or sporadic technical aspects, which form an “exceptional” character of the figurative framework. The plastic formula involves new ways of semantic expression, interested in lyrical-poetic notes, which specifically reflect the reality of life. The expressive peculiarities of the figurative image are suggested by various plastic clues, sometimes metaphorical or allegorical hints with critical, moralizing or observing content of some known and seen reality in the contemporary social environment.Through these plastic and semantic implementations, the Moldovan figurative painting manages to strengthen the semantic content of the plastic image, bringing a profound, sometimes philosophical message about the traditions, culture and moral-spiritual values of the nation.
