Summary/Abstract: A thorough study of the structural-semantic classification of slavonicisms and their stylistic functioning in the comedy works of I.K. Karpenko-Karyi determines the relevance of our topic. The aim of the work is the semantic and stylistic characteristics of the Old Slavonic vocabulary found in the comedies of I.K. Karpenko-Karyi. The material for the study was slavonicisms found in the texts of I.K. Karpenko-Karyi comedies Martyn Borulia, One Hundred Thousand, The Master. The following research methods are used in the work: descriptive, according to which the corpus of Old Slavonic words in the studied works is outlined; comparative is used to determine the nature and scope of the meanings of lexemes, and also stylistic analysis which helps define their functional status. Quantitative analysis is used to confirm the reliability of the obtained results. The scientific novelty of the work is that for the first time a comprehensive analysis of the stylistic use of Old Slavonic words in the named comedies of I.K. Karpenko-Karyi has been carried out. The theoretical significance of the work is that the results of the research supplement and clarify existing stylistic characteristics of slavonicisms. The practical significance of the work. The provisions recommended in the work can be used for further study of the stylistic use of Old Slavonic words. The prospect of further scientific searches lies in the research the development of the semantics of borrowed Old Slavonic words, their word-formation and stylistic possibilities in the dramatic works of different periods of Ukrainian fiction according to the developed scheme.
