Summary/Abstract: On the basis of proverbial phrases from Polish and Bulgarian, the research aims to provide insight into the crypto-communicative messages that are exchanged in the field of male‒female relationships, by using the methods of psycholinguistic, cognitive semantic and comparative analysis. The results of the study show that, in many cases, the encrypted illocutionary layer of some proverbs is largely confirmed by others ‒ with explicit contrast or ambivalent content. Psychological research into the verification communication process, supported by evidence, provides reliable prospects for better understanding and harmony between the sexes.
