Summary/Abstract: The article examines the establishment of the Bulgarian Trade Agency in Dedeagach (today’s Alexandroupoli, Greece), its place in the life of the Thracian Bulgarians and its role in the relations between the Principality of Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire in the very end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. The text is based on the documentary archive of the Agency and traces the connection of the Agency with the Bulgarian communities in the Empire; its communication with the local Ottoman authorities and its relations with the governments in Sofia and with the other Bulgarian diplomatic missions.
