Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with the concept of воршуд/вожшуд in the Udmurt language, which used to serve as a theonym for one of the traditional deities. The word was preserved by Udmurt local groups living in a foreign-language environment. According to the folklore and linguistic materials considered вожшуд means sacred happiness (fate, share, destiny) and manifests the idea of sacred values, energy accumulated by generations of ancestors, as well as the communications of a related community with the ”other” reality. The veneration and reverence of воршуд — the god-keeper of Udmurt clan and family was handed down from generation to generation, which promoted preservation of a spiritual bond between generations of the population (living, dead ancestors and future generations).
