Summary/Abstract: In the paper, the author enters into a comprehensive polemic with the assertions of Błażej Śliwiński contained in his monograph on the Duke of Gdańsk Mestwin II regarding his relations with Brandenburg margraves. Once again he is attempting to substantiate his view that the feudal relation of Mestwin II to the margraves had earlier, Carolingian roots. Other detailed issues related to the policy of the Gdańsk duke regarding Brandenburg are also discussed in the paper.
