How do you translate a theatrical poster? Advantages of using parallel texts

Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on parallel text issues based on the example of a specific text type – theatrical posters. The author discusses the characteristic features of the poster’s text and indicates similarities and differences in creating such announcements in Polish and Russian cultural spaces. These have become the basis for presenting the problem of translating the posters from Polish into Russian and the advantages of using parallel texts in translation, which are also discussed. The work also underlines types of equivalence based on E. Nida and W. Koller’s classification. These classifications helped to establish criteria to take into account when translating certain types of texts.
