Summary/Abstract: This study focuses on the spirit of the carnivalesque, which permeates Angela Carter’s last novel. Although carnival is problematic to women with its male-dominated tendency and inherent limits, it is employed as a major form for subversion in Wise Children, a novel structured in five chapters, in a self-conscious nod to its dramatic source.
