Summary/Abstract: One of the important figures from Bosnia and a commentator on classical works written in Persian was Suʻūdi Bosnawī. Suʻūdī’s commentary on the Divan of Hafiz gained the fame during his lifetime and continued to be read in later centuries. This paper discusses the issue of understanding Suʻūdī’s method of hermeneutic analysis of words, concepts and metaphors in literary texts and what types of knowledge are provided in it. Suʻūdī’s method of commentary is attempted to be illustrated by the example of the analysis of one distichon.
