Summary/Abstract: Cybersovereignty is a concept highly supported by China and the Russian Federation, considering it as an application of the principle of state sovereignty. In essence, it is opposed to the idea of an open Internet outside State regulations. The aim of this paper is to critically explore the main features and implications of the concept of Cybersovereignty by reference to the basic principle of sovereignty in International Law. At this date, within the United Nations the conclusion of specialized working groups is that principles and norms of International Law are applicable in Cyberspace. However, it is far from clear if the same parameters and meaning as in the physical space are applicable.
