Summary/Abstract: Designing an ESP course is a challenging task given the specificity of the target learners and the continuously increasing demands of the job market. This task is even more difficult in the case of English for Legal Purposes (ELP) a branch of ESP that requires highly specialized knowledge in the field of law. The ELP teacher, most likely a layman, has to acquire knowledge of the law-related content and to develop sustainable teaching materials and methods. This article focuses on the difficulties the ELP teacher faces in the process of course design and refers to some good-practice examples that can be followed in teaching Legal English.
